Recertification Eligibility
Eligibility for recertification includes the following requirements and accompanying documentation:
- Be 18 years of age or older - Provide US government-issued photo ID (i.e., driver’s license, passport) at exam site; CDL licenses may be mandatory in some areas.
- Be physically able to operate a crane, per ASME guidelines - Complete and sign CIC Medical Verification Form
- Passing a 50-question Recertification Exam for the specific crane type - Earn a passing score on exam
- Practical Experience defined as follows:
- 1,000+ hours of operation within the last five years on cranes comparable to the certification the candidate requests (hours of operation are defined as hours spent as the Designated Operator) - Completed and signed Hours Verification Form OR
- Pass the Practical Exam for the largest crane applicable to Supplement selected - Earn a passing score on exam
- Honor the Crane Institute Certification Code of Ethics - Read and sign Code of Ethics Agreement
- Adhere to the Crane Institute Certification Substance Abuse Policy - Read and sign Code of Ethics Agreement
