Practical Exam Site - Site Prep

Course Material

The CIC Practical Site course materials are surprisingly easy to obtain. Typically, one trip to a hardware store, five 55-gallon drums, and a sling from CIC is all that is needed.

Essentially, preparation requires painting plywood boards and the barrels prior to the first exam date. The specific site preparation instructions are documented in the Practical Site Coordinator Handbook which is accessed after your site is authorized.

Once the materials are prepared, actual course setup can be done in less than an hour.

Crane

Your site is responsible for the crane(s) that will be used during the exams. These cranes must be able to pass a daily inspection and have a boom length appropriate for the type of test given. It is NOT necessary to have any particular type of crane (for example, you do not need a lattice boom crane to give the lattice exams).
